Quilters InC.

The members of Quilters, InC.  were  dealt a cruel hand by mother nature in January.  The regularly scheduled meeting for January 2 had to be cancelled because of inclement weather.  The meeting was rescheduled to January 23 with the regularly scheduled meeting for February 6 still in place.

Quilters, InC. member and church secretary, Rose Mary Grimm was able to hand deliver the group’s assortment of handmade quilts for the neonatal intensive care unit at Akron Children’s Hospital.  Pictured below are Rose Mary and the staff in the volunteer office at Children’s of Akron receiving the quilts.  It was a joy to deliver the quilts in person for both the giving and receiving participants.  The staff asked to be sure to give their many thanks on behalf of the hospital, the babies and the parents for the beautiful quilts that are given to each baby in the NICU.

PENNIES FOR A PURPOSE

The Starkdale youth group began a ministry in 2005 they called Pennies for a Purpose.  They sang songs, sold candy canes, pumpkins and chocolate kisses, placed donation containers at each entry door to the sanctuary and did moments for mission on Sunday mornings. This was their way of collecting pennies, which we all know add up.  They also accepted nickels, dimes, quarters and of course paper money, too. To their surprise, their persistence paid off.  They raised $2500.00 this year allowing them the opportunity to help more families than in past years. The money was used by our teens to provide a wonderful Christmas to many families with children in our community who normally would not have had one. As you can see from the pictures, they had a great time shopping.

Our youth group advisors are Sharon Petrilla and Rick Paterson. They meet on the 2nd and 4th Sunday at 6:30 P.M. each month and they would like nothing better than for more teens to join them and learn about Christian living as a teen and to help them spread the Good News of the love of Jesus Christ.
